Abstract:
Prince Salim, the son of Indian Emperor Akbar, falls in love with Anarkali, a courtesan. The Emperor disapproves of the affair and decides to separate them, upon which Salim declares war on his father. Salim is sentenced to death when he loses, but Anarkali intervenes, renouncing her life to save her beloved.
